My goal for my blog is to introduce you to wholesome Christian books, whether fiction or non-fiction (with some cozy mysteries and articles that are important to me.)
Some time back I received a book that was not Christian. The plot and characters were good. The story kept my attention. The ending is what shocked me. The characters were left angry, bitter and vengeful.
Christian books I consider great are those that bring us closer to the Lord, bring Him honor, and help us all to be reconciled to Him and to reconcile with those in our lives. I want to offer books that will give you a future and a hope, as God does for each of us. We are not perfect people, whether readers or writers, but I would like to present books that help us grow in the gifts of the Spirit, faith, love, and truth.
With that, welcome to One Desert Rose – A source for Christian Book Reviews!
I live in the MSP, MN, area. Here is a glimpse of our area. Welcome to Greater MSP.mov www.youtube.com.
I’ve been an avid reader since I learned to read. I love sharing what I read.
My faith:
I believe that I/you must be born again (new creatures in Christ through the Holy Spirit) in order to live eternally with God. Jesus died in propitiation for my/your sins and rose again to give me/your eternal life. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. For He so love me/you that He gave His only begotten Son so that when I/you believe, I/you will not perish but have eternal life. We must repent and be baptized, all of us, for the forgiveness of sin. Without the shedding of blood there is so forgiveness of sin. To as many as receive Him to them He gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. For God did not send the Son (Jesus) into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He is not willing that any (you or I) should perish but that all should come to repentance.

I would love to have you review my newest novel Miracle Play. It officially releases in one week. Please let me know if you are interested.
Lynn
Ten-year-old Jacob Thomas is repidly losing his battle with leukemia. His mother, Whitney, begs God to spare her only child. When the doctors suggest a new treatment plan, Whitney hesitates. To save her son, she will have to face a past she would rather forget.
Reese Jordan should be basking in the glow of new motherhood. Instead, she fears that her premature daughter may not survive. Her little girl could save a life–the life of a boy she never knew existed. Reese just doesn’t know if she can make that choice.
God has blessed both women in ways they don’t think they deserve. Can they trust that He will provide each of them with just one more miracle?

Hi Onedesertrose,
As a survivor of 22 moves with husband, four children and a dog, I am a reluctant expert on moving. For this reason, and to encourage women, I have just published Changing Zip Codes:
Finding Community Wherever You’re Transplanted. It is a forty-day devotional using scripture and stories from my own life. I’d love to have you review it. It is published by Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas.
Thank you for your time.
In Him,
Carol G. Stratton

DiAnn,
Thank you so very much for reviewing my book, Oli’s Uncommon Cents. Although it is not promoted as a Christian book, I am a believer who writes the book for a secular audience of children in hopes of encouraging biblical, moral and positive values. You are a wonderful person and I hope to continue following your posts and being relational with you.
I’ve mentioned you on my blog, here is the link:

Blessings to you,

Hello!
I’m wondering if you would be interested in a copy of Barbara Burgess’s new book The Courtship of Tucker Pain for review? The Courtship of Tucker Pain is the backstory of an eventual small-town preacher from a troubled childhood, into the military and back to the town he left behind to save the only mother figure he knew. Barbara is from Michigan and the story was inspired by some of the characters that you might find in a small-town in the “mitten.” Let me know!

I’m going to decline, but thank you for considering me.

Thanks Desert Rose for the terrific review. I certainly appreciate it and the timing is great as the book is 99 cents for a Kindle download. Plus, this is the season that many move. Blessings.

Hello Linda, I was checking out your blog and you review exactly the type of books the Millennial Generation Team at Moody Publishers puts out. Would you be interested in receiving a free copy of Dr. Rosalie De Rosset’s book Unseduced and Unshaken? Dr. Rosset talks about how Christian women in this next generation are in the process of making critical life choice and argues we must think carefully about what we do with our education, our spiritual existence, our leisure, our bodies, and the importance we place on our intellect when we make these choices.
If you would be interested in reviewing this book please let me know and I’ll have a copy sent to you!

I am interested in reading unseduced and unshaken. Maybe I could use it to teach young women how to live Godly lives. I am a grandmother. Thanks,

How does one go about submitting a book for review? My Christian fiction novel, The GIlded Prospect, was published this past December by Charisma Media (formerly Strang Communications)

Hi Linda,
First, thank you for this blog. I love to read but as a mother and part-time worker I don’t have much time to read, so when I do I want to make sure what I’m reading honors the Lord. I really appreciate your reviews!
I also wanted to kindly request for you to review my book, recently published by Tate Publishing called “Struck Down but Not Destroyed.” It is a personal account of life with my son, James, who was born with a birth defect that left his brain terribly malformed. The book follows me on my journey through my many struggles with God as I experienced my son’s multiple seizures and witnessed his various handicaps develop. Through my intimate and deeply emotional story, I also offers an in-depth Bible study on pain and suffering and finding joy in life’s hardships.
I would be happy to send you a copy of the book for your review.

I am sending this request in regards to The Disillusioned, a novel due to be released in the next few months.
My life for the last fifteen years has been as a storyteller. With the DNA of a world traveler, I was born in Hong Kong, have ventured into the jungles of the Amazon, the bush of Africa, and the slums of the Far East, to share stories of those who are overcoming incredible odds. I have also produced and directed over 140 television episodes syndicated on NBC, ABC, FOX and various cable networks worldwide.
Below is a brief synopsis…
A mother’s suicide threatens to destroy a family legacy. Her sons, Sam and Daniel, are forced to leave their comfortable worlds behind and search for a woman they believe can unlock the secrets that have remained hidden. They are propelled into separate journeys from Los Angeles to the heart of the Zambezi where they are forced to confront a man known as Die Duiwel, the Devil. On their adventures they will find themselves in a place where death is one breath away, where thousands of children are disappearing into the darkness, and where the woman they are searching for is on the hunt for revenge. When they stand face-to-face with the forgotten slaves of Africa they will fight to redeem what has been lost.
If you’re interested in reviewing The Disillusioned or interviewing me please let me know and we can discuss the details further.
Thank you for your consideration.
